The sections for the Pinwheels For Prevention Campaign are:
In April, in communities throughout the state of Ohio, colorful children’s pinwheels will be planted in front of courthouses, playgrounds, libraries and parks. Each pinwheel will represent a case of child abuse and neglect reported to the public children service agencies in Ohio. In addition, education and media campaigns will complement these displays to raise the public's awareness on child abuse and neglect. In 2003, there were 95,665 reports of child abuse and neglect in the state of Ohio. Most Ohioans are unaware of how widespread the problems of child abuse and neglect are in their local community. Pinwheels for Prevention is designed to show the public in a very dramatic way that child abuse and neglect happen in every community and encourage them to focus on prevention as part of an overall plan to break the cycle of abuse.
