What is the statewide network?

Prevent Child Abuse Ohio’s Statewide Network provides a forum to unite voices advocating for the prevention of child abuse and neglect; to facilitate education, information and resource referral; to disseminate information about best practices; to foster community collaboration; and to enhance community awareness about child abuse prevention efforts. Members of the statewide network are invited to participate in quarterly meetings. Meetings will provide an opportunity for networking and information sharing.

What are the criteria for joining the statewide network?

PCAO Statewide Network Criteria

Common Mission – Statewide Network members support PCAO’s mission – to prevent the abuse and neglect of Ohio’s children
Active Participation – Statewide Network members actively participate in quarterly meetings, information exchange and dissemination, and activities of the Statewide Network. Participation will include national and/or state public awareness activities for the network.
Statewide Focus on Child Abuse Prevention – Statewide Network members will share information and resources while providing a strong, visible commitment to preventing child abuse in their own communities.
State-Level Advocacy – Statewide Network members serve as active and vocal advocates for national and state-level prevention policies and programs in the state of Ohio.
Public Awareness – Statewide Network members are committed to raising public awareness of child abuse by distributing educational materials in their communities, and/or are involved with other educational activities.
Promotion of Prevention Strategies – Statewide Network members support, promote, and take a leadership role at the county level for child abuse prevention strategies.

Nationwide Children's Hospital

Join PCAO for our next quarterly Statewide Network meeting scheduled for Friday, August 15, 2008 from 10:00 AM - 2:15 PM at Nationwide Children's Hospital in Stecker Auditorium.

This meeting's focus is "Empowering Youth: Opportunities for Change." The two groups that will be highlighted at the meeting is PEACE and the OHIO Youth Advisory Board.

PEACE: Protecting Every Abused Child Everywhere is a youth driven program that teaches youth about child abuse and neglect, peer relationships and dating in an effort to prevent child maltreatment. PEACE works from the philosophy that teens have a voice and need to be heard so they can help stop the violence, not perpetrate it.

OHIO Youth Advisory Board: Overcoming Hurdles in Ohio Youth Advisory Board (OHIO YAB) is a statewide organization of young people (aged 14-23) who have experienced foster care. The OHIO YAB provides a statewide voice that influences policies and practices that effect all youth who have or will experience out of home care.
