Prevent Child Abuse Ohio (PCAO), is a statewide organization whose mission is to help prevent the abuse and neglect of Ohio's children by serving as an expert resource for collaboration, information and education. PCAO, a chapter of Prevent Child Abuse America, merged with Columbus Children's Hospital in 1993 as a result of the closure of the Columbus' League Against Child Abuse. In 1995, the organization was officially chartered as Prevent Child Abuse Ohio, the Ohio Chapter of Prevent Child Abuse America. In 2002, PCAO became the primary prevention program for The Center For Child and Family Advocacy, a collaboration of Columbus Children's Hospital and the Columbus Coalition Against Family Violence. The Center, the first of its kind in the nation, brings together, under one roof, comprehensive intervention and prevention services, with long term treatment and support for abused children and victims of domestic violence. In 2007, Columbus Children's Hospital was renamed Nationwide Children's Hospital. |
